No matter which genre traditional bands of the (early) eighties belonged to, a large part of these groups no longer manage to capture the spirit and lifestyle of the old days. Things are different with the NWOBHM veterans WARRIOR. They are an exception because „Boudica“ convinces with unexpected freshness and authenticity. And yet the new album doesn‘t sound dusty. This is certainly a feat in 2020. WARRIOR, formed in 1979, remains the same NWOBHM band that they have been known and loved for since their first single on Neat Records (Dead When It Comes To Love, 1982), although the line-up has changed since then. Guitarist Dave Dawson has been a constant member throughout the years, but also a lost son returned in 2014: drummer Sean Taylor (Satan, Pariah), who was already part of the cast in 1983 when the EP „For Europe Only“ was recorded. Furthermore the band is happy about personnel reinforcement by the vocals of Dave Lunn, who not only elevates „Boudica“ into higher spheres, but also guarantees NWOBHM goose bumps with his voice and his style. The album was recorded by Dave Curle at First Avenue Studio (Newcastle). Curle has already given Satan‘s current albums a natural, unadulterated sound. Raven‘s John Gallagher, who plays bass on three songs, excels as a guest. The four bonus tracks are just retro! A professional 24-track recording by WARRIOR mixed by Neudi in 2019 at Brofest 2014 (Newcastle)! In addition to the entire Neat Records single, you can also find energetic live versions of the song „Suicide“ from the EP „For Europe Only“.
