Jackie Washington received an honorary doctorate from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario (2003), was inducted into the Canadian Hall of Fame for Jazz and Blues (2002) and received the Estelle Klein Lifetime Achievement Award from the Ontario Council of Folk Festivals (2001) ), was inducted into the Gallery of Distinction in Hamilton, Ontario, in 1995, and received the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award from the Ontario Arts Council in 1991. Jackie Washington (November 12, 1919 - June 27, 2009) is an important part of Canadian music history.
