In top form: The masters of jazz fusion live in Germany. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the founding of Weather Report, the Joe Zawinul Heirs Association published this live document of the band's performance in Offenbach on 29 September 1978. For a long time this recording was not available, but now there are 1,000 copies worldwide. With their mix of jazz, rock and electronic music, the band can be heard in absolute top form. Led by two music visionaries, the pianist and keyboarder Joe Zawinul and the tenor/soprano saxophonist Wayne Shorter, the band was also extraordinary because they avoided the guitar which was obligatory at that time. Also in the line-up were the legendary and influential bassist Jaco Pastorius and the new drummer Peter Erskine, who added a more jazzy element. On "Live In Offenbach 1978" you can hear the only Weather-Report line-up in which there was no percussionist.
