Turkish folk psych-rock from Amsterdam that burns and sparks and drives and is irresistibly extraordinary. When Turkish folk music meets psych-rock and electro-pop, Altin G?n emerges. With their extraordinary balancing act between seemingly completely different styles, this band, which sounds Turkish but of whose six members only one was born in Turkey, succeeds in something really extraordinary. These Dutchmen call themselves Turkish Psych Folk, and emphasize that they understand their music as folk at its core, but one to which the deep love for the music of the funky 60's and 70's is noticeable. The Turkish pieces are very groovy, electric and full of explosive psychedelic structures. Songs, some of which have already been heard and interpreted countless times, which belong to Turkey's musical past, are its heritage, but sound completely new. Band founder and bassist of Altin G?n, Jasper Verhulst, emphasizes the importance of the songs' identity-giving potential, but that they wanted to add something unique to it, which makes the listeners pause. "The songs come from a long tradition. This is music that tries to be a voice for many. (... And then) we need something that makes people listen as if it were the first time." The sound of Altin G?n sounds as traditional as it sounds completely contemporary and shows in an almost magical way that music is a culturally permeable, experimental medium in which we always encounter wonderful surprises. With "Gece", their second album, the band has finally established itself as an indispensable interpreter of the Anatolian rock and folk heritage and has become an absolutely unmistakable voice in the up-and-coming global psych-rock scene.
