The Trump presidency seems to have brought something good with it after all. While the USA is suffocating more and more in its political exhalations and the land of unlimited possibilities for the land of fear and oppression is growing, one would like to keep all windows and doors closed forever, but especially in such times the free spirit and rebellion of American punk rock is more important than ever. First and foremost, the cult Californians of ADOLESCENTS now present an album that is a direct punch in the face of all Donaldfanatiker and as the ninth longplayer in the long career of the band is to be regarded at the same time as the most furious and yet also most maturely astute. With an unbelievable 39 (!) years of career the ADOLESCENTS have earned themselves an undisputed reputation as one of the best known punk and hardcore bands in the USA, after the band was founded in 1979 by former AGENT ORANGE bassist Steve Soto and singer Tony Cadena. Together with the famous Agnew brothers of SOCIAL DISTORTION they threw their debut album into the ring in 1981 and since then they are indispensable in the scene. Despite numerous line-up changes and two band resolutions, the combo has been at the forefront again since 2001 and once again they plunged deep into the pool of cruel reality to secure themselves inspiration for their new studio album called Cropduster. The 18 track long cricket, released in July, hits exactly where it hurts again and not only sets the band's irrepressible hatred of the current head of state of the United States to music, but also keeps the world in mind a mirror, into which unfortunately too many narrow-minded people do not want to look. The band Violets red and roses blue, All these things I give to you, It won?t matter when the tanks roll through? sings with playful and yet dark and bitter laconia and wakes up the listener by addressing attitudes of life that many people would actually like to laugh about, it would not be so incredibly sad. So it says in Flat Earth Stomp quite bluntly: Caught the flu the other day, This chick asked me to pray. Told me the earth is flat. What can you say to that? In Just Because, frontman Tony Cadena screams his opinion directly into Donald Trump's bloated face and defends himself in 5150 Or Fight against his own forced admission only because he doesn't want to tick like everyone else. Nothing, absolutely nothing is okay, while the oppressive Nuclear Football takes up the fear of nuclear destruction, schoolchildren in Room 223 have to run for their lives in front of the machine gun, and the album's consensus can hardly be spat on everyone's feet more clearly: Hey, the world sucks, but let's pay homage to the hard riffs and aggressive vocals with a fat moshpit before the apocalypse knocks on our door and we have to bow to our fate! Even though the teenage phase of ADOLESCENTS is a long time ago, the rebellion, snottiness and irrepressible power of the quintet has been preserved and all this has come to a head with a pinch of mature acumen, frightening explosiveness and decades of songwriting experience. And the way the world is now, the ADOLESCENTS will not run out of inspiration so quickly. But don't worry, we don't have to worry any more, because we are all just prey for Armageddon
