Vivaldi (1678-1741) is certainly rightly regarded as one of the most influential composers for the development of the solo concert. However, his unbelievable compositional dexterity is nowhere more evident than in the String Concerts. The first of three Vivaldi releases planned for 2018 by the French label Naive Classique is a reminder of this. The double album was recorded by the Accademia Bizantina with historical instruments. Hardly any other ensemble is as dedicated to baroque chamber music as the Accademia Bizantina, founded in 1983 in Ravenna, Italy. Thanks to its many years of experience, the chamber music ensemble is one of the specialists in music from the 17th-19th centuries. Ottavio Dantone, who first joined the ensemble as a harpsichordist and has been musical and artistic director since 1996, is primarily responsible for the high standard. The now iconic leader is convinced that one must literally immerse oneself in an age in order to understand its music. This gives the presented works a lot of depth.
