Curtain up for the new heyday of Goth Rock! In days in which black music has often degenerated into a clich? and merely claims to be danceable, WISBORG stand for substance. Based on greats of the eighties and nineties like The Sisters Of Mercy, Type O Negative and Depeche Mode, the duo brings an authentic, modern gothic sound to the stage, which does not try to copy, but gives new impulses. Aesthetically and conceptually, they are based on the expressionist German silent film of the 1920s: The band photos are in black and white and marked by strong contrasts between light and shadow, the band logo is designed in the style of art deco and the band's first single, "Becoming Caligari", not only refers to Robert Vienna's most famous work in text form - the music video is also entirely in the style of the film "Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari". All other songs that could only be experienced live so far have finally been recorded on CD: WISBORG's debut album "The Tragedy Of Seconds Gone" will be released on Danse Macabre Records on April 27th. The recordings were made in summer 2017 at the Wellencocktail Tonstudio Hannover. Producer Achim Dre?ler, who has already worked for De/Vision and Unheilig, has done a great job here and captured the essence of the band perfectly in nine titles. They deal equally with love and sex, death and transience - not a contradiction, but an image of the driving forces of life. The influence of baroque vanitas poetry can be seen in the texts as well as references to the work of William Blake, Leopold von Sacher-Masoch or Morrissey. No matter which area you look at: WISBORG's work reveals a holistic artistic claim. The band is exciting, authentic and shows that black music can still reinvent itself after forty years!
