Jerry Williams Jr is best known by his alter-ego Swamp Dogg. He has enjoyed a prolific career as an artist, writer and producer scoring hits for Gene Pitney, Doris Duke, Dee Dee Warwick, Freddie North and Johnny Paycheck. He has recorded many collectable up tempo and deep soul sides including "She's So Divine", a 3-figure rarity recorded for Academy Records in 1963. But it is his self-penned "If You Ask Me (Because I Love You)" that catapulted him into the Northern Soul hall of fame and remains a much cherished and in demand dance floor filler. Featured on the B-side is another favourite Calla Recording, written and produced by Williams, "Just What Do You Plan To Do About It".
