Bob Dylan is considered one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century. "For his poetic new creations in the great American song-tradition" he was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2016. After his first successes as a folk musician, Dylan turned to rock in the mid-1960s, but in the course of his career he also drew from other genres such as country, blues and gospel. Dylan's lyrics in combination with the musical performance and performance practice are characterized by complex levels of reference, ranging from Hank Williams and Merle Haggard to James Joyce and Arthur Rimbaud to John Lennon and Frank Sinatra. Conversely, many colleagues also received songs from Dylan and turned them into completely independent works. Surprisingly, many jazz musicians also liked Dylan's output, as the present compilation proves. Here you can find covers of classics like "Knockin' On Heaven's Door" (Ben Sidran), "Blowin' In The Wind" (Stanley Turrentine), "Mr. Tambourine Man" (Abbey Lincoln), "Don't Think Twice, It's All Right" (Olivier Hutman & Alice Ricciardi) or "Like A Rolling Stone" (C?cilie Norby).
