GOUNOD/LISZT. World premiere on CD! Brilliantly cast live recording of the lost sacred work. Charles Gonoud was a French composer whose 200th birthday is in 2018. In 1891, two years before his death, he completed work on the sacred work "Saint Fran?ois d'Assise". But the manuscript disappeared, so the work was never performed. It was only rediscovered in 2011. In June 2016, "Saint Fran?ois d'Assise" was finally performed in the Philharmonie de Paris under the direction of Laurence Equilbey. Equilbey is the artistic director of the Insula Orchestra and Choeur Accentus; with her open-minded and demanding approach to her art, she has proven herself to be a great artist. Equilbey has earned an excellent reputation. The versatile artist is a sought-after guest conductor for Symphony concerts. The world premiere was realized by the Orchestre de chambre de Paris and the Accentus Chamber Choir. Soloists were tenor Stanislas de Barbeyrac and baritone Florian Sempey on stage. The CD is supplemented by the "Hymne ? Sainte C?cile", which was also written by Gounods originated. Here we hear Deborah Nemtanu on the solo violin. The album is rounded off by Franz Liszt's church music "L?gende de Sainte C?cile", in which the mezzo-soprano Karine Deshayes with with a warm timbre.
