This is the fifth CD collaboration between Rough Trade Shops and End of The Road Festival and, as always, the tracks are selected by Simon Taffe from artist’s playing at this year’s event. It’s always a labour of love to pull this compilation together. It’s always tricky too ... what to cut versus what to include, what makes the mix flow versus the stand-out single. That’s all to do with the lost art of making a mixtape though I suppose, a compilation that takes the listener on a musical journey. The journey this year takes you from the languid guitars of Nap Eyes right through to the pulsating synths of Gulp’s “Morning Velvet Sky” (available exclusively on this CD) via the French afro-funk of Vaudou Game and the stunning voice of Aldous Harding. - Simon Taffe EOTR
