Founded 1994 by guitarist Count Damien Nightsky and Drummer Lord Asmoday, these East German Black Metal veterans quickly recorded the legendary first demo tape „The True Darkness“. In 1995 „Das Schwert unserer Ahnen“, the successor cult demo came out, which was later released on CD again. The third demo, a live recording, was followed by the unforgotten debut album „Die R?ckkehr der dunklen Krieger“ in 1997 – a very mighty and appealing beginning in the pioneering days of German Black Metal. The next, grim longplayer „Sword Of Revenge” was released in the fateful year of 1998, and again Andras showed their unique and ardent side. Only one year later, 1999, the unflinching East German idividualists put out their third full-length effort, entitled „Quest Of Deliverance”. This release was accompanied by the aforementioned „Das Schwert unserer Ahnen“ re-release. Despite their attractive and diligent development the dark horde was confronted with a bothersome fact just like so many other fellow German musicians: The initial trend in this harsh genre has always been dominated by Scandinavian Black Metal groups, who are worshiped by the fans often ignoring the musical quality. So it took until 2002 for Andras to deliver another demo recording to the Black Metal guild - „Legends ...“, a powerful, self-produced demo in plain cassette tape format. Aside from many unneccessary, average Black Metal productions the year 2005 fortunately brought a true gem of the genre „...Of Old Wisdom“. With their fourth album Andras dealt a massive creative blow. Especially vocalist Ecthelion really shines on this release with a sensational broad range. Fantastic melodies only add to absolutely convincing compositional and instrumental delivery. Without any doubt „...Of Old Wisdom“ has to be considered one of the best releases of the entire genre. Einheit Produktionen was truely impressed – consequently the fifth Andras album have been released by the well-established record label and the title is programmatic: „Iron Way”. Andras have always walked this „Iron Way” right from their inception and it was definitely worthwhile not to leave it – what has been proven with the release of their intensive sixth album"Warlord". After being put on hiatus in 2013 Andras are now back with a new line-up consisting of known and new members. The aim is to bring back Andras with the spirit and power of their early works as an open-minded horde. The band is momentarily working on new material.
