Where the first volume of the Colundi Sequence focused on Aleksi's talents for producing out and out basement techno bangers, Clone's decision to unfurl Vol. 2 on their recently relaunched DUB imprint (home to similar deeply aquatic episodes from Der Zyklus and Kettel) is the perfect analogy to capture the frame of mind that Aleksi was submerged in at the time of recording. The care and attention to detail are central to the Colundi Sequence, each note carefully placed atop the shimmering ever-evolving ocean of sound, every melody ricocheting off the last to a constantly evolving and endlessly multiplying layers of bittersweet electronics that give the album a truly timeless feel. While it's easy to draw comparisons between Aleksi's work to that of Sandwell District, AFX, Eno, Pan Sonic, Jeff Mills, Shinichi Atobe etc. yet the deeper you go the more these comparisons fall by the wayside, as actually, no one really sounds like Aleksi Perala and this latest Colundi further cements him as one of the most interesting artists operating within the fringes of sequenced electronic music in the world today.
