"Anti Ritual is a new four piece band from Copenhagen, Denmark who formed in late 2013, by the looks of things. Anti Ritual is comprised of members who are veterans of the Denmark hardcore and metal scene, with members playing in bands that include Lack and Rising. Right off the bat, I had high expectations for this album because I was a huge fan of Lack. Let's just say that this 12" totally exceeded my expectations. Anti Ritual play a killer style of politically charged music thaty incorporates elements of hardcore, punk, crust, sludge, and noise rock within their sound. Anti Ritual can be loosely compared to bands such as Trap Them, Nails, Deathrite, and Seizures. Anti Ritual also gives nods to classic hardcore/crust bands such as Tragedy, His Hero Is Gone, and Cursed. This is the band's debut self-titled six song 12" which is slated for release via Vendetta and Indisciplinarian records on April 28th, 2014. Overall, Anti Ritual have absolutely nailed it here and offer up six songs of brutal and punishing music that results in a dark, powerful, and uncompromising listen.
