The Dutch producer calls time on one of techno’s best labels. Dave Huismans, best known for his techno productions under the A Made Up Sound moniker, has announced he’s winding up his self-titled label with a final 12? and CD compilation. The 2CD A Made Up Sound (2009 – 2016) compilation collects the tracks from each of the label’s previous nine 12?s as well as an exclusive track, ‘P.P.B.’. The final AMUS label tracks will appear on a 12? as well as the compilation. Huismans launched the label for his broken techno productions in 2009, and it has hosted some of his most memorable tracks including ‘Demons’, ‘Take The Plunge’ and 2015’s ‘Half Hour Jam On A Borrowed Synth’. He’s also known for his music as 2562, and has released on Clone, Delsin and The Trilogy Tapes over the years. “Initially I started it as an outlet to freely release whatever, whenever, but as I went along, the label kind of became a purpose in itself, something I enjoyed building over time. A body of work with a beginning and an end, if you will,” Huismans says in a press release. “It was meant to be a finite thing early on, I think this has encouraged me to try and push its sound as far as I could. If you know you only have so many records left to make, you’re extra keen to make each of them count,” he adds. “I’ve now done what I wanted to do with the label and it’s a good moment to wrap it up and leave it behind.” All tracks have been remastered, and some appear in freshly mixed or edited form.
