XASTHUR deliver with "Victims of the Times" an acid folk road trip through the dark side of the American dream. XASTHUR was founded in 1995 by Californian singer and multi-instrumentalist Scott Conner as a dark black metal project in the tradition of the Nordic second wave. Over the course of nine albums, various split singles, EPs and occasional demos, XASTHUR's extremely depressive style gained cult status as one of the spearheads of US black metal. Then in 2010, Scott announced the end of XASTHUR, after which he initially returned with the acoustic dark folk project NOCTURNAL POISONING. Five years later, the American revived the XASTHUR name, but declared that his black metal days were over forever. Currently, XASTHUR is charting a course for their musical future with a new lineup and an ambitious album. "Victims of the Times" transforms the darkest chasms of the United States into a feverish, soul-crushing poetic collection of 21st century Amerikana.
