The melodic NWOBHM band WILDFIRE, which unfortunately only released two LPs and two singles, is of course associated with singer Paul Mario Day. After a brief stint with Iron Maiden, he appeared on the debut of MORE (Atlantic Records), which is considered one of the classics of NWOBHM. The „dictatorially led group“ (quote) disbanded during the recording of the second LP and Paul formed Wildfire together with Jeff Brown (Statetrooper), Bruce Bisland (Weapon), Martin Bushell (Statetrooper) and Jeff Summers (Weapon), a real all-star band. The two LPs „Brute Force & Ignorance“ and „Summer Lightning“ (Mausoleum Records) impress with a very melodic variation of British Heavy Metal. It is hard to believe that the big success did not happen. Paul Mario Day therefore switched to SWEET and appeared on their live album „Live At The Marquee“ (1989, SPV), while Jeff Summers today is back with WEAPON UK. Two completely underrated albums form the legacy of WILDFIRE. Fans of bands like PRAYING MANTIS and NWOBHM lovers will love this re-release on a remastered double CD.
