Born 21st of June 1954 the Jamaican roots and dub icon, melodica player and keyboardist, was active from the early 1970s until his death 18th May 1999 - his music will live forever! "Pablo is more than a gifted instrumentalist, he is a masterful pop composer who uses the recording studio as his orchestra. His recordings are possessed by a reflective, almost mystical sadness." (The New York Times) With the release of the "Rising Sun" album on Greensleeves Records began a new era for Augustus Pablo, edging his Rockers revolution into the digital age, in his own words saying "Mix-up the vibes a little more". The four Greensleeves albums that form this new double CD disc collection, "Rising Sun" (1986), "Rockers Comes East" (1987), "One Step Dub" (1988) and "Blowing With The Wind" (1990), paved Pablo’s journey into a revolutionary new age and brought his far east sound to a whole new audience. Recorded at Channel One, Tuff Gong, Dynamic, HC&F & Creative Sound with engineers like Scientist, Soldgie, Phillip Smart & Steven Stanley the hardcore steppers and nyabinghi meditations within were keenly embraced by the sound system culture and Pablo backed them up with hugely successful tours of Europe and Japan showcasing many of the tunes included here blended with a selection of music from the original rockers era
