Ermanno Wolf-Ferrari (1876-1948) is regarded as a composer who is difficult to classify. Although a child of his time, he always kept away from the innovations of the modernists and twelve-tone music. The two piano trios in this new recording are early works written around the turn of the 20th century. They are imbued with a certain noble light-heartedness and inspired simplicity.
