The 11 CD set presents music, the Johann Sebastian Bach for the feast of the birth of Christ, one of the most important feasts in the world of the church year. As cantor of the Thomaskirche in Leipzig, Bach had to create a Writing cantatas. The Christmas season inspired him to some of his most famous cantatas in festive and praising character. This selection contains the complete Christmas Oratorio, additional Advent Anspieund Christmas cantatas and organ works about well-known Christmas melodies like Nun komm, der Heiden Heiland, In dulci jubilo or Vom Himmel Hoch, that's where I come from. The successful recordings were made with the Dresdner Kreuzchor, the Holland Boys Choir, the Netherlands Bach Collegium, the soloists Arleen Auger, Peter Schreier, Theo Adam and organist Stefano Molardi.
