With' Outermost Edge', Alex Stolze has managed to create an idiosyncratic mix of electronica, indie pop and neo-classic, a breath-taking album full of colourful details that he has produced based on his five-string violin. The singing sometimes reminds of the empathic voice of Erlend Oye. As part of the Berlin trio Bodi Bill, he has made entire festivals dance until 2012. And much of what has inspired listeners in the past and aroused their curiosity can be seen here in an idiosyncratic form of beauty. A beauty that is not vain, that tells its stories quietly and forcefully. The violin is often just plucked, which gives the sound something oriental. What distinguishes "Outermost Edge" apart from great complexity and virtuosity is the attitude behind the music. The l' art pour l' art, which can be found on many productions between neo-classic and ambitious electronica, is not enough pride and joy:"If there is a fire everywhere, I don't want to ignore it and simply make feel-good music".
