The fact that established big names in the music business such as Die ?rzte und Sportfreunde Stiller Producer Oliver Z?lch or Amadeus Prize winner Martin Scheer (picture book, Granada and others) were able to inspire enthusiasm for the project, even without the participation of major labels, illustrates the cross-genre euphoria that THE WEIGHT know how to ignite. THE WEIGHT easily stages the weight of their compositions in terms of content and music. Even the opening Hard Way makes this impressively clear. The hard entry level reef is accompanied by exuberant life energy and the unbroken optimism of a band that knows what a musician gets on his arduous path of rock' n' roll: namely nothing. The content of the entire album is thus roughly outlined. Especially the wonderfully freaked out single Trouble, as well as the Mitsinghymne Inside unite questioning doubts and defiant now-first-right mentality convincingly on classical hit-length. The fact that THE WEIGHT's creative potential is far from being exhausted is demonstrated by the sound painting Hammer, Cross & Nail with its overflowing instrumental passages, which goes beyond the confines of a radio single. In Rich Man's Pride, which could have originated from an Ennio Morricone soundtrack in this respect, such a desire to perform is ultimately pushed to the top. Now, at the latest, we can guess how far THE WEIGHT have moved away from contemporary production techniques in order to draw on the infinite musical reservoir of the past. The concluding Plenty of Nothing acts in this context as a final affirmative affirmation: the driving rhythm, the elegiac refrains and the hymnal finale reveal the full splendour of the sound development.
