Montego Bay is the second largest city in Jamaica after Kingston. From 1978, Montego Bay gained international recognition by the Reggae Sunsplash Festival, which quickly became the most important reggae event in the world. No wonder, everything of rank and name stood there. In 1979, Bob Marley (his last appearance in Jamaica), Peter Tosh, Burning Spear and Third World celebrated a gigantic "kinky reggae party" with their most famous songs. The documentary accompanies the artists before, during and after their performances, as a spectator one is close to the happening. The film portrays images of everyday life in Jamaica, which tourists have never seen before, and thus transforms the music into a political and social context. This makes the DVD a valuable time document and raises "Reggae Sunsplash" beyond an ordinary concert film.
