Christy Essien, known as Nigeria's "First Lady Of Song", has produced nine respectable studio albums on a number of labels. Their fifth album "Give Me A Chance" was released by Afrodisia in 1980 and is now officially re-issued by the successful Nigerian label. "Give Me A Chance" shows an impressive step from their last album with a nice portion of variety. Their classic funky disco sound is most evident in their most remarkable song on the album "Rumours". This coveted disco number is joined by some other disco grooves like "Nobody Can Stop You" and "Onwu". "Ife" means love and brings some reggae into the mix, while the other tracks ("Saboteurs", "Don't Let Me Down", "Ikan Idomo" and title track "Give Me A Chance") are more of a traditional Afrobeat - meets ballad approach.
