The recorder's restricted dynamics are amply compensated by its endless differentations in tone, colours and even pitch. Although the 19th century ignored the instrument, composers in the 20th century rediscovered its unique tone and instrumental possibilities. This collection offers a wide array of music composed for the recorder, starting with the most famous collection Der Fluyten Lusthof by Van Eyck, through the 17th and 18th century with its champions Sammartini, Telemann, Fiorenza, Handel, Quantz, ending in the 20th century.
