The New-Yorker Chrome Sparks releases versatile debut album on Counter Records! Chrome Sparks (aka Jeremy Malvin) knows how to leave his tracks in the best light. His self-titled debut album, released via Counter Records (a Ninja Tune-Sublabel), stands out with a sparkling sound: an euphony of hip hop, house and brightly lit work on the synthesizer. The record is the final result of years of work in Malvin's naval shipyard (his studio in Brooklyn) and a remote hut north of New York. There alone he spent a whole month alone to escape the city's distractions and to distil this process, which then became a period of intense creativity. On the album itself there are collaborations with the Australian duo Kllo (Ghostly) and Body Languages' Angelica Bess (who also collaborated with Machinedrum). The album is both the result of an obsessive production approach and a restless hunt for new ideas. His creative mentality was characterized by live performances as well as studio encounters. It is the basic framework that allowed him to turn so many diffuse ideas into reality, which eventually resulted in a striking and diverse debut album.
