Well, if there hadn't been Metallica, who would have covered this band for the Xth time, then this record would have disappeared completely. Fortunately, this didn't happen, because "Lightning to the Nations" has enough class to confirm itself, even without Metallica. The part originally came out in 1980. Great songs can be found here, e. g."The Prince", of course covered by Metallica, but the original sounds better. In this one you can even recognize some jazz elements, but the song sounds like a really stirring metal song of the 80s. Above all,"Sucking my Love" was a 9 min. song with many psychedelic dimensions, which sounds partly like Led Zeppelin at best times. "Am I Evil", was of course also covered by Metallica, as well as the awesome "Helpless", which in the original possesses a lot of power. It's Electric "was also great, because it's massive and full of energy. It's also nice that this disc had a real metal sound and therefore not as overproduced as many metal releases of today sound. The title track sounds quite like AC/DC for me, very straightforward but with a lot of power. You see, every song on this CD is more than worth hearing. And if you want to know how this band sounded (at best times) and Metallica's seemingly endless covers, then get this great CD.
