First Electronic Album since 8 years! Blank & Jones surprise after eight years with a new Electronica album that spills clubfeelings. Overnight they published the title song #WhatWeDoAtNight at the beginning of the year. Piet and Jaspa describe the sound as an Adult Electronica, which also hits the nail on the head. They completely abandon vocals and reinvent themselves once more. After publishing four groundbreaking club albums between 1999 and 2002, they noted that electronic music follows clear rules when people want to dance. In order not to fall into routine, they dealt with the albums Monument and The Logic Of Pleasure Successful with classical songwriting structures and explored the world of ambient and chill out music with the relax albums. They even undertook excursions into jazz or, as last year, in church music and modern classical with their soundtrack DOM to the concerts in Cologne Cathedral. Of course it would now be obvious to speak of Back To The Roots, but that is not the new album. Blank & Jones rarely look back, but rather forward. Over a period of two years they developed the sound and felt inspired especially at night to the productions. The focus was not on the dancefloor, although all tracks are extremely danceable, but Piet & Jaspa wanted to create a work that one feels especially at night. You have to get involved, then the songs, which rarely run under 7 minutes, unfold their full force and beauty. They are almost radio plays, which do without language, but leave the energy of the music free. The tracks have this unique mixture of euphoria and melancholy, just as Blank & Jones can do. With goose bumps and tears in her eyes you tear your arms in the air and dance all night. Exactly that makes trance music out and exactly that deliver Blank & Jones to #WhatWeDoAtNight in perfection.
